Wooyeal Paik

I am a Professor of Political Science and International Studies at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. In 2009, I graduated with a Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.

My research interests include comparative politics and international relations, with my recent research focusing on the comparative authoritarianism, political economy, and state-society relations of contemporary China and Asia along with their interactions with international politics in those regions.

Currently, I am serving as the Vice Director of the Yonsei Institute for North Korean Studies and the Director of the International Relations Center at the Yonsei Aerospace Strategy & Technology Institute. Concurrently, I hold positions as a Fellow at the Institute for Strategic Research (IRSEM) under the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, an adjunct professor at the Brussels School of Governance at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and a member of the South Korean Naval Development Advisory Committee. Additionally, I preside over the research committee of the Korean Political Science Association.
